Application steps

Fix any NIN errors first
If your name, date of birth or gender on your NIN record is wrong, correct it at a NIMC office before starting — the passport is printed exactly as NIMC holds your data, and the passport portal cannot fix it.

Create an account on the NIS portal
Go to immigration.gov.ng, register with an email (OpenID) or sign in with Google.

Enter your NIN
The system pulls your biodata from NIMC automatically. Check every field carefully before continuing.

Complete the application form
Fill in address, contact details, next of kin and travel history, then upload your photograph and supporting documents.

Pay online
Payment is only accepted through the NIS portal — cash at NIS offices is not accepted.

Book and attend biometric capture
Pick a Passport Office/Application Centre and date. Attend in person for fingerprints and photo capture.

Track and collect
Use your tracking ID on the portal to follow progress, then collect your passport or arrange delivery once it's ready.
